Rice<\/strong>*, presenta en su nueva publicaci\u00f3n\u00a0<em style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Notes for Clarinetists. A Guide to the Repertoire\u00a0<\/em>informaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica y anal\u00edtica<strong> sobre treinta y cinco piezas del repertorio clarinet\u00edstico<\/strong>. A cada obra el autor le dedica entre cinco y nueve p\u00e1ginas, incluyendo datos esenciales como el a\u00f1o de composici\u00f3n, la primera edici\u00f3n\/otras ediciones, el dedicatario\/primer int\u00e9rprete y la fecha\/lugar de la primera interpretaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n, encontramos una breve biograf\u00eda del compositor y el proceso de creaci\u00f3n de la obra junto a su contexto hist\u00f3rico. Seguidamente, <strong>Rice nos describe la pieza proporcionando informaci\u00f3n relativa a la melod\u00eda, la armon\u00eda y la forma musical<\/strong>, incluyendo adem\u00e1s im\u00e1genes de algunos de los dedicatarios o primeros int\u00e9rpretes y ejemplos musicales con datos siempre avalados mediante notas a pie de p\u00e1gina. Con una prosa clara y precisa, el punto de vista elegido para el an\u00e1lisis de cada obra es eminentemente pr\u00e1ctico y pensado para que el lector identifique convenientemente los puntos m\u00e1s importantes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Este libro es el segundo de la serie <em>Notes for Performers<\/em>,<\/strong> una iniciativa de la editora <strong>Kyle J. Dzapo<\/strong>, autora del primer t\u00edtulo de la serie:<em> Notes for Flutists. A Guide to the Repertoire<\/em> (2016). Para esta colecci\u00f3n, se le encarg\u00f3 a Albert Rice una selecci\u00f3n de las piezas m\u00e1s representativas para clarinete solo, con piano o con orquesta.<\/p>\n<p>Para garantizar una recopilaci\u00f3n lo m\u00e1s amplia posible,<strong> solamente se eligi\u00f3 una obra por autor<\/strong>. Junto a composiciones de Wolfang A. <strong>Mozart, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy o Igor Stravinsky<\/strong> encontramos repertorio contempor\u00e1neo de <strong>Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez o Karlheinz Stockhausen<\/strong> y p\u00e1ginas menos conocidas como las de Robert Muczynski y Antoni Szalowski. Se incluyen asimismo compositores con un papel singular en la historia del instrumento, como Johann Stamitz, Jean-Xavier Lef\u00e8vre, Franz Krommer o Bernhard Henrik Crusell, y alguna obra menor como la <em>Sonata para clarinete y piano <\/em>op. 2 del archiduque Rodolfo de Austria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La utilidad de este libro, especialmente para los profesores e int\u00e9rpretes, es indudable.<\/strong> Tomemos como muestra solo uno de los aspectos tratados: los errores que inevitablemente se deslizan en las ediciones impresas. Rice, a trav\u00e9s de un concienzudo trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n, nos avisa de dichos errores proporcionando las correcciones y nombrando siempre las fuentes en las que se basa. As\u00ed conocemos, por ejemplo, las notas cambiadas que se imprimieron en <em>Le tombeau du Ravel,<\/em> de Arthur Benjamin, o en <em>A Set for Clarinet,<\/em> de Donald Martino. Y las modificaciones experimentadas entre el manuscrito y las sucesivas ediciones de las <em>Piezas fant\u00e1sticas para clarinete y piano<\/em> op. 33, de Robert Schumann. Igualmente, Rice nos informa sobre los errores de imprenta del <em>Domaines,<\/em> de Pierre Boulez, y en varias de las ediciones de la <em>Sonata para clarinete y piano,<\/em> de Francis Poulenc.<\/p>\n<p>Las obras de consulta a disposici\u00f3n de los int\u00e9rpretes sobre piezas de m\u00fasica de c\u00e1mara, \u00f3pera y repertorio orquestal son relativamente numerosas. Por el contrario, los libros dedicados a la literatura m\u00e1s destacada de un instrumento, salvo quiz\u00e1s en el caso del piano, son escasos, especialmente si hablamos de los instrumentos de viento.<\/p>\n<p>En lo referente al clarinete, <strong>el libro de Albert Rice es, sorprendentemente, el primero de estas caracter\u00edsticas.<\/strong><em> Notes for Clarinetists<\/em> se convierte as\u00ed en un <strong>manual de consulta y una herramienta indispensable<\/strong> para clarinetistas profesionales, profesores, estudiantes, amateurs e investigadores.
